EDIPT — Design Thinking Stage Quiz (10 scenarios)

Choose which stage matches each scenario: E=Empathize, D=Define, I=Ideate, P=Prototype, T=Test.

1. A student team interviews cafeteria users and observes their daily lunch routines to understand why many skip meals.
2. After reviewing all interviews, the team writes a problem statement: “Busy students need a faster, healthier lunch option because they have only 20 minutes between classes.”
3. The team gathers in a classroom to brainstorm 50 creative ideas — from mobile lunch carts to pre-order apps — without judging any suggestion.
4. They select the top 3 ideas and build quick cardboard models and sketches to visualize how a self-service lunch kiosk might work.
5. They invite fellow students to try out their paper mock-up of the kiosk and give feedback on usability and design.
6. A team member shadows commuters at a bus stop to understand how they interact with digital signage and how it could inspire the campus info board.
7. The group narrows their insights into a clear goal: “Improve how students discover events on campus in under 10 seconds.”
8. The students create three app wireframes using Figma to simulate different homepage layouts.
9. They organize a “feedback day” where 20 students rate the wireframes and share frustrations or ideas for improvement.
10. During brainstorming, one student combines two ideas — a smart vending machine + meal subscription — to form a new concept.
